We Build Business Through Human Connection
BB+T Consulting exists because business development has lost its way. In a world dominated by cold calls, quota-driven sales tactics, and transactional lead generation, we offer something different: growth built on authentic relationships and genuine human connection.
Founded in Dallas in 2023 by Ron Bruno, BB+T Consulting is a fractional business development consultancy that partners with technology service firms to accelerate revenue through strategic introductions, curated community engagement, and embedded sales support. We serve B2B technology and IT services companies with annual revenue between $2 million and $50 million who are ready to scale strategic sales through executive-level relationships.
"I'm not a killer salesperson, quota-driven, do whatever it takes," Ron says. "I'm a relationship-driven integrator building businesses within a community for the long term."
How We Started
BB+T emerged from crisis. In 2022, when interest rates spiked and the mortgage industry collapsed, Ron and his wife Karen went from a two-income household to a quarter of one overnight. Ron had spent 16 years in personal finance building his business through relationships rather than cold calls. When that world disappeared and job applications went nowhere, he had one month before financial disaster.
Ron reached out to 60 influential people on LinkedIn with a simple message asking for advice on ancillary income ideas. Within 15 days, he had 30 meetings. Ten of those meetings turned into real opportunities. "They all came from people that saw me for more than a loan officer," Ron says.
Two technology companies wanted to meet the tech executives they'd seen Ron connecting with at events. They didn't need him to sell their product. They just wanted introductions. Ron became a fractional Director of Business Development, setting up 44 meetings with senior executives in six months for his first client.
When Ron added a third fractional role to his LinkedIn profile, people thought he was job-hopping. He needed a brand. The name came from a running joke between Ron and Karen about their shared finances: the Bruno Bank and Trust. BB+T.
"At this point, I knew that this is what I was destined to do," Ron says. "I was able to leverage other people's budgets, but I was doing what I love 100 percent."
What We Do
BB+T Consulting delivers three core services:
Strategic Introductions connects clients with ideal customers and alliance partners through Ron's network of senior technology leaders across Dallas and beyond. These aren't cold introductions. They're warm pathways built on years of relationship equity. We limit clients to three to five carefully curated introductions per month to maintain the health of those network relationships.
Curated Events and Community builds trust and visibility through educational gatherings and relationship-based experiences. We don't create generic networking events. When one client couldn't get tech executives to visit their distant warehouse location, Ron designed a crawfish boil that solved the problem. "It's messy. It fits the theme. It's not going to mess up your place," Ron told the client after attending a friend's crawfish boil and immediately seeing the solution.
Embedded Sales Support partners with internal sales teams to nurture key relationships and drive revenue. Ron views himself as the quarterback who takes deals 85 percent of the way through strategic positioning and relationship building. He needs a strong closer to take it the final 15 percent, and he knows it.
How We Work
Our four-step engagement model starts with mapping your ideal customer and partner profiles against our network to find strategic fits. We facilitate warm, low-risk introductions with trusted contacts who are open to learning about your company and offering candid feedback. With insights in hand, we help fine-tune your message and begin scaling outreach through curated events designed to add value to the community. As traction builds, we reinvest learnings and early wins into broader sales and marketing initiatives.
We generate revenue through monthly retainers for proactive activities, commission, bonus, and equity arrangements. We're not a traditional lead-gen firm. We operate as a strategic partner, bringing relationship capital and a long-term view of growth that prioritizes trust and value creation.
Ron describes the work as putting the right people in the right rooms with the right message to ensure mutual benefit. It's about making five high-impact calls for five appointments rather than 500 dials for the same result. It's about leveraging network equity—the deposits made continually through advice and connections, so when a withdrawal is needed, the balance is positive.
Why It Matters
One law firm client told Ron, "You made me an equity partner." The client became an equity partner after Ron helped with strategy and connections, getting him in front of the right people in a way that made him referable. That outcome represents what BB+T measures: not just deals closed, but relationships built, networks strengthened, trust earned.
Ron's approach draws on lessons learned over 25 years in business development and relationship management. At age 12, he worked closing shifts at his father's Taco Bell franchise, scrubbing nacho cheese vats at 1 a.m. By 16, he was managing P&L and hiring and firing people twice his age. "My dad said, 'I need to put my aces in their places,' and that's where I really learned that everyone had a position," Ron says. "That's the origin of the network weaving concept."
From age nine, Ron served at his parents' gatherings, engaging with adults and learning to be genuinely interested in their stories. His mother Carol and her father before her entertained auto executives in Chicago, creating environments where business could flourish naturally. Ron and Karen carry forward that ancestral model in Dallas.
Where We're Headed
BB+T envisions a world where business development is built on authentic human connection rather than transactional cold calls. We're creating a scalable advisory practice that proves the most sustainable path to success runs through relationships, not databases. Within three years, we aim to operate as a multi-city advisory firm with relationship-driven business developers in markets including Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Chicago.
The larger purpose behind BB+T is restoring humanity and enjoyment to business growth. "We're making it fun to build relationships, to build businesses, to build careers," Ron says. "And making sure to put the right people together in that elegant fashion where both parties benefit."
Ron's work doesn't just generate revenue. It transforms careers. It doesn't just close deals. It builds legacies. It doesn't just connect people. It creates communities of trust where work stops feeling like work, networking stops feeling transactional, and business development becomes what it should have been all along: the joyful process of connecting people who can help each other thrive.
If you like doing business this way—building relationships organically and growing a community—let's talk.
